RECENT SUCCESS STORIES
Routine Onsite EH&S Management
A Fortune 150 office machine manufacturer lost a four-person EH&S staff as part of a downsizing trend at their California facility of 1,500 employees. TPS came to their aid with routine, part-time, on-site services. Coordinating with the company’s corporate group in New York, TPS re-created the EH&S program with an emphasis on streamlining compliance, and reducing both costs and burdens on plant personnel. New compliance and management programs were developed and managed, site certification to the ISO 14001 standard was obtained, and environmental oversight for the closure of facilities was provided. Through enhanced procedures, hazard analyses, training and communication, the manufacturing groups injury and illness rate was dramatically reduced. Services also included establishing and maintaining on-site recordkeeping with backup on the client’s intranet website. For over six years, TPS has saved the client several hundred thousand dollars in administrative and program costs.

Storm Water and SPCC Planning
A Fortune 250 power generation company needed help developing Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans and Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures plans for its Southern California west coast plants. The client was particularly concerned with preventing releases because of large quantities of oil located in close proximity to the ocean shoreline. In addition to providing plans satisfying the regulatory requirements, TPS identified several significant improvements to each site and its preparedness to reduce the likelihood and severity of potential releases. The project included the review and approval of the resulting plans by a third-party professional engineer.

Hazardous Occupancy Review
A photovoltaic cell manufacturer sought an independent review of a new semiconductor hazardous occupancy design to identify needed controls to control hazardous materials, and prepare supplemental documents to expedite the building approval process. TPS' review included a detailed evaluation of the drawings, proposed processes, and manufacturer documentation for materials, tools, and equipment against the applicable California Building Codes, AQMD, DTSC, Cal/OSHA, Sanitation District, and other requirements. TPS identified meaningful enhancements throughout the design process and delivered supplemental planning documents that demonstrated compliance to the approving buiding code officials.

Business Aquisition Due Diligence
A Fortune 50 oil and gas company needed help in evaluating the EH&S conditions during the due diligence period of the acquisition of a solar panel manufacturer. The client was seeking an individual with expertise in a wide-range of business environmental and EH&S risk, compliance, and familiarization with semiconductor manufacturing. TPS was able to provide an environmental site assessment combined with an EH&S compliance audit that provided real value for the client to understand the risks and better negotiate the purchase. Following the acquisition, the assessments also benefited the client in planning for its needed future EH&S resources and efforts once operations were initiated.
